Dear Juno,

First off let me just say you are a very strong and brave teenager. Although you were put into a difficult situation at such a young age, you handled it very well and with great maturity. I highly respect the decision you made in putting the baby up for adoption since it is your choice. I understand why you did it; you weren’t ready to become an adult when you were simply a teenager beginning the second phase of her life. I don’t blame you in any way what you decided to do, however I don’t think I would have taken the same decision as you.

If I had been in the same situation as you, I would have 95% chosen to abort the fetus as soon as possible after finding out I was pregnant. Why? Because I would not have been able to walk through the halls of my high school and constantly hear people whispering about me as I walked by. I could not have simply carried, fed, and nurtured this baby in my womb for nine months and at the end of it to simply give him or her away to an adoptive family. I could not have simply given up my freedom for nine months and bare the loss of family members who didn’t agree with my decision nor friends. I am simply too young and not as strong as you Juno. If I were you, I would have been using either birth control or condoms, maybe ever a plan b if necessary. But none the less I applaud you for being such a strong person.

However, many would quickly disagree when I say every woman should have a choice. It is NOT up to the government to decide whether a women can keep or abort her child because every situation is different. Would you like it if row vs. wade was to be overturned and say your sister gets brutally raped and ends up getting pregnant from her rapist? Would you honestly look her in the face and say “all lives matter, keep that child” ? I didn’t think so. We can’t assume that every abortion is dealt with a promiscuous teen who accident forgot to use a condom or take their birth control that day. We need to think of every possibility and situation. I strongly believe that every women has the right to chose whether they want to have another human growing inside of them for 9 months and changing their body or not. No politician sitting behind a desk 24/7 can say whether or not a women should keep her unborn fetus or not. I am pro choice and anti-conservatives.
